Text Message
So I'll tell her where my words won't stutter.
Where my many faces won't let her believe
How in the world
It could be
Just us, together you and me
Maybe she'll turn down my promise
Maybe it's not where her heart is
But love transcends time and space
It can't be contained in a place
That isn't my heart, or yours
Yet do we always know
What our feelings are?
Deep down or at the edge of your tongue?
Pure intentions, dirty fingers
Broken hearts, then draining teachers
Can it be contained in words?
Mindfully mindless thoughts
In a text message?
I have pent-up feelings always burning
Always hiding and always wanting
But never speaking, I lost my tongue
And I want to tell her
While I’m still young
Can it carry the tidal wave of emotions?
Face to face I cannot tell her
Face to face my voice will shatter
But it doesn’t matter
I'll tell her where my words won't stutter

I didn't have the courage to ask someone to the school homecoming dance in person, so I sent a text message! It worked out great!
