Not by the stroke of a clock, but rather the prick of a beam,
the vast emptiness of night subsides to dawn.
Illuminating the heart of the callused mountain face,
the trickle of golden light bleeds outwards towards the chiseled edge.
The whispy breath of a midsummer’s fog that blankets the peak
now melts away in the growing light,
leaving it naked and vulnerable.
Lying at the base,
a pool of sparkling water reflects the magnificent bluff through a shimmer of ripples.
A warm breeze caresses the mountainside,
sending the waxy leaves fluttering into a graceful dance.
In these moments of pure, untainted beauty,
onlookers are consumed by the absolute serenity.
Time stalls in the shadow of eternity
cast by this temple of glistening rock.
There is truly nothing that can compare
to the simplistic elegance found here.
Crafted by nature,
a gem in this desolate land.
