Summer Sets
There is a change in the air,
we sit there together quietly.
The only thing you can really hear
is the sound of the air brushing through the trees.
As the pastel colors in the sky mix and fall together,
I have trouble finding words.
My eyes get lost in his viridescent green, mysterious eyes as he says,
"the amazing color of the sky resembles you,
soft, bright, and beautiful."
It was just like magic,
my cheeks the same shade of pinkish red as the sky.
During your summer of freedom,
as it sets like the sun,
sometimes all you need is just a little love.

This was a free verse poem assignment in which I was given five lines of words, and had to create a poem using these five lines. Living by the beach has made me really appreciate nature and the outdoors in general. One of the things I adore the most is the sunset, and the night before I wrote this poem I had seen one of the most beautiful sunsets. I suppose you could say that's what inspired me to write this, because for a moment it felt as if everything in my life was beautiful, just like the sunset.
