Remember
A voice cries out
It rings a "no"
The object splats
Against his skin
Yet I am silent
In the midst of violence
For I must breathe
To be relieved
My heart, it hurts
For I remember
How it stung
And how I felt
It made me strong
Yet stubborn-minded
Rebel bred
Yet I submit
"Poor child"
Is what I think
For what he'll need
In his days to come
He'll need someone
He'll need something
And he will search
But will not find
Someone will betray
Something may not stay
And so he'll remember
The hurt in his heart
