in the depths of the mind itself

the sun is the only thing that
can shine brightly though the jumble of darkness.

the sun rises with an early mist and covers me
with enlightenment.
The sky and clouds part making way for the sun.

in the mist of discord,
panic, and chaos the sun sits
patiently like a coiled snake awaiting for what comes next.

when all was created
and nothing stirred
there was only the sun and nothing else
everything was perfect.

as night falls and the last of you
slip away in a purple haze
you walk behind me in a wispy
shadow reminding me that you are here.

on a day when clouds rule the lands
and when rain and thunder cry,
you sit behind the gloom
waiting to spread your joy.

as the old willow stands
the sun perches on a single branch
looking over its shoulder watching the land.
keeping everything in line.

in the darkest frigid depths of the sea
where life goes undisturbed and where time
isn’t rushed the sun pushes through
the hard layers of darkness
to shine through and
shed light.

in the dead of night even when
the stars go quiet the sun
becomes the center of all things
spinning softly and weeping
silently.

when time slowed down and
the clocks hands froze in place,
the sun was the only one still
spinning

willing life to move forward.

The author's comments:

This piece was created in my poetry class. I was inspired to use the sun, becuase the sun gives life and I think that people dont write a lot about the sun. Also the sun can be viewed and pictured in so many different ways.
