Resolution
Resolutions, what a revolution that most of us partake in.
An evolution that we believe will fix what our mistake is.
To lose weight, to gain it
to quit junk food, to stay fit,
you need not to do this
if you just want to convince
yourself that you’re beautiful.
The idea to lose one thing,
forget it in the past,
is obsessed over.
Cravings to pick something to dismiss
fulfills our gaping hole of
“becoming better”.
Or perhaps it is to fill that yearning
with something substantial.
The opposite need to become that something new
floods our brains with the idea that
anything can change.
Even our stubborn ways.
But a resolution calls for intuition
something that not everyone can grasp as easily.
The motivation to become better is what keeps the gears grinding.
Not everyone gains or loses
or maintains or deals with
what they had promised to.
But it doesn’t make this year
any lesser than previous.
The effort is what
makes us able to
pursue any idea dreamt of
each year.
