I Think
I think that you might be what I’ve been missing.
Maybe everything in this life has pointed me towards you.
And when the doors I walked towards
Slammed shut in my face-
By God, he feels like destiny knocking.
I think that our souls might be tethered together.
Maybe the rope that binds us pulls tighter with every step you take away.
And that must explain why
I am unable to breathe
When he wanders too far.
I think that we are fashioned out of the same stars.
Maybe the whole galaxy aligned the moment we met.
The stars in his eyes
Mismatched like the constellations of my freckles-
Besides, I’ve never met a prettier imperfection.
I think that you and I are prayer hands holding two halves of the same heart.
Maybe the divine maker has fated our paths like a whole new gospel.
Because we keep falling back in love,
And I’m forced to wonder
If we ever truly fell out.
