their love was explosive:

when they touched, they
created fractured light,
and flew high in the aftermath
like hydrogen balloons.

each melted into the other’s arms,
and together they created
something new-
a metal shield to protect their entwined hearts.

their passion fizzed and frothed;
it was a spectacle to behold, their love,

a lilac flame against a world of night,

but in the end, they burned out.
