Finding Love through Music
I inhale air and exhale music,
the sweet melodies that fill my lungs as
chords pump through my veins.
My heart is a hodgepodge of
black and white notes scrawled across a piece of music.
My mind is as complex and meticulous as string vibrations.
I walk to the click of my inner metronome,
and my voice is a jumble of accidental notes.
I see him in the hallway and it seems that
all the noises in the world are sharp.
His smile releases butterflies fluttering in harmonious cacophony within my stomach.
He kisses me like he plays the violin,
gliding his bow lightly across the strings,
using a wide vibrato when he reaches the cadenza.
I inhale his music and exhale air

My boyfriend was the main inspiration for this piece. As I sat down to write it, I wanted to write about both music and him. Since we both play the violin, weaving my love for him with my love of music was nearly effortless. When people read this, I want them to see that music can encompass the entire range of human experience, and that they can truly find love through music.
