When I Think of You
It is a cloudy day.
I can not help but think of you.
The clouds are plentiful.
They hold in their rain.
Much like how thoughts of you are abundant,
yet I still hold back my tears.
Occasionally, the cloud can not help but spill.
It is only natural.
Tears run down my face, on occasion.
It is only normal.
Seasons change.
Weather changes.
And I will think of you.
Clouds keep moving forward,
but their mark never leaves.
I can not undo how you have changed me.
One never completely forgets who they truly love,
but is more careful the next time outside
I will look up at the sky, and smile.
The sun will shine as bright as before.
I will never forget you.
Clouds move on, but the sky never forgets them.
As once, I was happy to have you in my life.
I will just make sure to bring sunscreen or an umbrella next time.
It will be a new season,
but the last is never forgotten.
And so, I'll think of you.
Does one forget summer's shining,
or learn to appreciate autumn's breeze?
You.
It is you I will think of on a cloudy day.

I was inspired to write this when looking out the window and thinking about how the relationship between the sky and clouds is so inspirational. They give a great example of what it is like in life to move on, whether it be about a romantic partner who things did not turn out with, a friend who you no longer talk to, the death of someone you loved, or a sandwich you had last week which you can not seem to forget.
