She Sits
She sits
At a desk
Surrounded by a mask
A mask filled with noise
with static
A sycamore tree comes into view
she longs for it
reaching
dreaming
It takes her somewhere
she is forbidden to go
trapped
but she won't admit it
because she accepts it
because her life
as she knows it
depends on this
right?
What if she broke free?
she couldn't dare
poking holes in her existence
this is all she knows
she never forgets
her promises
her words
she never stops thinking
but she does it
she reaches for that tree
yet she cannot get up
so she tries to hang on to both
still sitting
