Hellish Masterpiece
Cracked crevices in the earthly crust shatter
as a chasm splits the wasteland in two.
Fire erupts in a fantastical explosion,
landing and leaping in an eerie dance on
either side.
On one end it chars the ground into a
checkerboard wilderness of burnt out hope,
and disappears in a plume of smoke.
On the other, it swirls with passion and emotion
as the flames flicker through a kaleidoscope
of color.
And I float on the darkness,
In my charred checkerboard dress,
and I feel the material pull me towards
it's charcoal coated home.
But my skin is cold,
and I yearn for the
smoldering heat on the
other side.
So with a puff of fearful air,
I exhale my discomfort
and let the heat scald
my skin.
My bones are shaded blue,
and my blood is molten gold,
and although I'm burning alive,
I'm finally content with the Hellish Masterpiece
I've become.
