Field Hockey
we’re ready to play, ready to win
the goalie’s suiting up
we can comprehend mouth-guard mouth
we can slam the ball hard
we can cheer each other on
we grab our sticks
we chant together
we run out on the field
we start the game,
the game is over
another win
more smiles
more congratulating
more pats on the helmet
for the goalie.
it’s 5:00
we still have
homework to do
and tv to watch
but we all know
that was our best game ever
