The Sound of Mornings

Eh. Eh. Eh. EEEH.
The alarm of my sister's
That I hear every morning
Goes off waking nobody up
Beep. Beep. Beep.
The sound of the microwave
Alerting my mother
Her breakfast is ready
Thump. Thump.
The sound of my mother
Walking up the staircase
Coming to wake up my sisters
Click.
The sound of a light switch
Being flipped on
Telling my sister that her alarm, once again, didn’t work
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
The sound of the water
Running over my head
Rinsing the previous day out of my hair
Ziiiiiip. Zip.
The sound of my backpack
As I throw all of my supplies in
Hastily, I'm running late again
Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.
The sound of my feet
Running down the staircase
Rushing as fast as I can
Creeeeeeeeeeak.
The sound of a pantry door
Opening towards me
As I lean in and grab a snack
Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.
The sound of my sister
Running down the staircase
Rushing as fast as she can
Ding. Ding.
The sound of our alarm system
Recognizing us opening the door
To step out the garage and leave
Rumble.
The sound of my sister's car starting
The key placed in the ignition
The car pulling out of the driveway
Honk. Honk.
The sound of a car behind us
As we wait to turn
Into the school parking lot
Clunk. Clunk.
The sound of my sister and I
Slamming our doors
Rushing to get into school
Briiiiiing. Briiiing. Briiiiiing.
The sound of the bell that signifies my one minute left
With two minute's distance to go
Errrrrrk.
The sound of the door
To my first hour classroom
As I walk in after the ring of the bell
Bump. Bump. Bump.
My nervous heart beat
Due to feeling twenty-something
Pairs of eyes
Watching me rush into the classroom
Tick. Tick. Tick.
The minute hand on the clock
Moves until suddenly...
Eh. Eh. Eh. EEEH.
The alarm of my sister's
I hear the very next morning
Still waking nobody up.
