Lovely Bruises

Take my hand,

Hold it tight,

Please dont let go,

Even if I fight.

I need your love,

I crave your care,

Sometimes I hurt you,

But I only do it because it's fair.

Your body is my vice,

I darken it with my fingertips,

Now it looks nice,

Yet you pull away by bits,

I scream at you,

I pull on your arm,

You yelp out loud,

As if you were alarmed,

You shrink away,

I close in,

I can feel your fingertips on my chin,

I close my fist,

You push me back,

I swing at you,

You try to attack,

I make you my canvas,

My hands the brushes,

I wrap them aorund you,

 Driven by madness,

You face turns blue,

Then purple,

Then white,

I open my hand,

And there is nothing but blight.

The author's comments:

There is a lot of discussion about domestic abuse. I am always astonished by the descriptive diction. Thus, I wished to produce my own work from the mind of the perpetrator. Though this poem is dark, it describes the same situation in different words.
