My Greatest Fear
As fear freezes my veins,
A silence emerges around.
My beating heart only remains,
Searching for light to be unfound.
Darkness becomes my enemy,
Only calling for the day of light to come back.
Trembling, cautiously waiting
For something to attack.
To be completely defenseless,
Only yearning to escape.
Trapped alone with darkness,
A light soon takes shape.
An ember so little,
But glowing so great.
An ember to help ease my fear
Of darkness’s fate.
To prevent the darkness
From swallowing me whole
Reaching the embers bright light,
Is my only goal.
