I Am - Marcus Alexander Yee
I am from dark visions, my world is a blur
I am the misunderstood, often hard to concur
the source of controversy, my mind, heart and mouth don’t coexist
but when they do, it all fades away into the mist
I am held by my wrists, I trying to resist
I am broken but not one with this broken society
I am the lion’s roar that’s belittled entirely
I am the fire born in a sea full of darkness
I am misunderstood, from assumptions of the heartless
I am what I hear, but mainly what I chose
I am surrounded by blasphemy on my path this broken road
I’m from the papers inscribed with words to shadow lies
I’m from the ancient beats produced that have refused to die
I’m from the piercing screams and the broken dreams
to the blasphemy and the coldest schemes
I’m from intensity in conflict, blurred vision from tears
I’m from the rising smoke, killing my branch’s lungs for years
but I’m still “Staying Alive” holding onto Bee Gees and laundry
I’m the disguised smile when the world treated me wrongly
I’m from “getting nowhere” but I happen to know where
at least I have the perception and patience until I go there
I’m from beauty that the world views as ugly and flawed
I’m from a reality where the world's gods are frauds
I’m from a world where virgins are myths
and friends are made believe concepts to blind you with
I’m from a beat down generation drowning itself in doubt
we’re all in a twisted Hell, looking for a way to get out
but among the brainwashed, I am the black sheep
in this game we call life we’re all dying for keeps
but I am the voice which echoes enhanced
I am the experiences that helped me to advance
I am the lessons learned to live my life how I desire
and I am the pain endured that sets my soul on fire
I know I’m not saved, but I know where I stand
you don’t know me better, because I know who I am
