Winter
I never liked winter.
Breeze, frozen against my rosy red cheeks,
but not rosy in that cute desirable way, more like rough surfaces have scratched across my face til blood shed,
Trees, no longer full of life and color
Branches cracked and lifeless, tombstones waiting
Icy steps, be careful, you may slip and fall
Air so thin and dry, breathing becomes the hardest thing we've ever done
When a breath is finally caught, all we see is white puffs of sorrow
Fingers, as red as cheeks, as cracked as branches
Why can't I feel anything?
Snow, beautiful and white, but after a few days, brown and ugly
Slush on the frozen ground, socks soaking up the murky water with every shivering step
I never liked winter.
