Those Crazy Mornings
Cherry buds blossom and
sparrows sing. The city is waking
after a long sleep. Those cold, grey months
are gone, replaced
with a blushing pink and a vibrant green.
Children play tag
in the streets, avoiding the cars,
but nobody cares.
The ice cracks quickly.
The park is overflowing with quacking ducks and
excited people, walking their dogs and taking pictures
of the just sprouted tulips.
A sweet aroma is left hanging over the streets,
like freshly cut flowers and golden-crusted pies.
Shoppers are rushing in and out of the market,
clutching their money and
baskets full of groceries. Vendors like this
chaotic activity, greeting each and every customer
with a handshake and a smile.
If you listen,
you might just be able to hear the city’s
heartbeat.
