I woke up one night; she was gone.
Where did she go? What happened?
I had no idea. I wanted answers, now!

I saw flashes of red and blue out of the corner
of my eye.I ran outside. There she was in an
ambulance on her way to the ER.I wanted
to go with her but everyone was holding
me back.

It was 2009, halfway through second grade,
I finally fell asleep.

I woke up. It was Thursday. I woke up to an empty kitchen,
and went to school not knowing what happened to her.
I went to visit her after school at the hospital.
She couldn’t walk.
I felt a drop of water rushing down my cheek; it was
cleaned off by my grandma.

The doctors said she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
It’s different for everyone, but when I see her, I can just
see how much pain she’s in. She pretends to be fine
around me, but it just hurts even more to pretend she’s
“ok”.I thought she would be gone forever but she isn’t.

She is my mom.
