Compulsory
you were the warnings my mother had always spoken about.
the evil she tried to rid my world of, which only made me want you more.
maybe it was the way you lit your marlboro reds that made me so envious
of the killer between your lips. i longed to be your addiction.
every hour, you would take me between your fingers
and ignite the passion between us, breathing my essence into you.
all the cautions from my erratic mother couldn’t keep me
away from everything you were. all it took was a glance
in your direction to be in complete awe of your mystery.
i wanted to dive into your thoughts, demonic as they were.
your piercing eyes held me spellbound, giving you the freedom to
delve into my innocence. and there we were; completely entranced by the oppositions
in which we lived, all while perplexed in our similarities of thought.
how we prayed long hours to a god we knew nothing of, for such an existence
that we finally had before us. the one that would make sense of the agitators in our skulls
and the evils that picked at our flesh. the one that will romanticize the evil plagues and the corruptions that tear at our hopes and dreams.
i am bound to your beating heart and nicotine kisses.
