Life Anew
She looked around her and for the first time saw color
Bright, brilliant, burning color
Her life had instantly been illuminated
The night was no longer to be feared, but to be cherished
She watched as the stale orange streetlight turned golden
She watched as the grey rain on the street turned a soft blue
She watched
And she watched
And she wondered
She wondered why all this was happening
What was the cause of all this newfound beauty?
And then she looked down
She looked down
Interlocked, firm- he was holding her hand
She didn’t even notice
Didn’t even notice
That he was the cause of all this color
And he made her see life anew.
