College Poem assignment
Wind
Alone on an open field
Spreading life and energy on its way.
Constantly, looking for a partner to dance the day away.
Unable to hold close those dearest to her,
Due to the fear of possibly hurting them, if she holds on to strongly.
She lacks what she desires most.
In her moment of greatest despair, she finds solace in
Small green blades of grass, who dance to her breeze and
Midnight Readings
For most people, the stroke of midnight means the end to their fairytale night.
But for me, it just begins.
As the clock chimes, book pages fly open.
Lit only by a single candle, dancing to its own delight.
The words jump from the page, entering my mind.
I soon enter a world entirely different than my own,
Worlds full of swordfights, knights and magical dances that never seem to end.
The Road
Just a warm black asphalt road, carries so much sentimental value.
Lives begin on the road as expecting mothers and fathers rush to the hospital
But do not make it in enough time.
Relationships grow stronger
As a worrisome mother teaches her sixteen year old child to drive.
Death occurs on the road,
As an excited driver, driving home for the holidays
To see their family after so long,
Slips on ice, sending them into a tree.
One road, goes on for miles.
Passengers is not the only thing that it carries.
Stars
Millions of miles away,
A star lights up the night sky.
Some come together to form pictures, to tell a story.
Like the one named Orion and his belt.
Others have formed a gourd, to lead broken people
To freedom.
Other stars race with one another,
Shooting across the night sky.
Stars guide us through life, and light the dark passages on the way.
Inner Demons
Everyday someone has a battle that they are fighting.
Battles that are usually with themselves.
Battles that tear people apart from the inside out.
Battles that cause children to stay home from school,
Because anxiety makes it difficult for them to be around other people without being uncomfortable.
College students to fail classes because of test anxieties and self-doubt.
Young adults who are still trying to discover themselves fall into deep depression.
Adults fight stress and sleep deprivation through the long work days and long nights of taking care of the kids
And elders fight the urge of succumbing to their age and still live an active life style.
Everyone that you meet fights a battle that you are not aware of.
Stay kind to one another.
