The Dearest Name
wherever you are
you are the pacific
ocean flowing with love
Mom
Despite children seeking
our own way of living
you are embracing us
with kind arms,
Mom
Please forgive our ingratitude,
living without thanking
you for giving us birth
through pain and suffering
There is much anxiety in the need of closer relationship
than happiness of just being close
more separation across the pacific ocean
than uniting in one country, South Korea -
between you and me
I always will call your name
Mom, warmest name in entire world,
when my life is hard and depressed
with difficult math and long, painful
homework which makes me cry
but the tears also symbolize your absence
Now I will be a lively river that will
give love and encouragement to
my future children
Thank you my dearest one,
Mom
