As Expected
Watching, it waits
It waits on my failure
On my failure to prepare for the unexpected
Because the expected has come so soon
It left my mind in years of peace
But I knew it would return
And now I know that it has
It watches me as I sleep
from it’s own home
entranced in it’s own sleep
a thousand miles away.
But still, I tremble.
It presses me between its palms
only to squeeze tears of silence
out of my warm shivering body.
It knows who I am.
It knows who they are.
It knows how to cease the song that I sing to the world.
But see, it is not really an it, at all
and this is what frightens me.
He frightens me.

My past has inspired me to write this story. Some things in our pasts haunt us even if years have gone by since they were relevant.
