Nikki Giovanni Poem Emulation
Slam, there goes another poor soul.
Thrown in jail just because of the color of their own skin.
Those who are supposed to help us lock us up.
We have no rights because they don’t want us to.
Taken away from their families.
They just wanted to protect themselves.
But the enforcers didn’t like that.
They beat them and threw them in a bottomless pit of despair.
They were beat like small animals for a lion’s dinner.
They took their lives away because they were different.
Slam, there goes another poor soul.
