On Your Mark
2:30pm. The only thing running
through my head is the track.
I jog through the gates,
to find myself on the track ready to run,
passing the other runners
to get to the line.
The coaches getting us ready to run.
The start line is crowded with runners.
I wait for the gun,
everyone ready to get out and go.
Waiting for the start,
fighting to get to the front,
pushing,
waiting for the signal.
The front people crazy as ever,
ready for the go.
“ON YOUR MARK!”.....
“GET SET!!”......
BAM!
There it is.
The sound we all waited for.
The gun,
finally we're off,
all fighting to get to the top.
Into the race I
stay at a steady pace
working for the finish,
and we’re coming up on it.
The last push is in
everyone using their last
bit of energy on the finish.
I kick it in with everyone else.
Fighting for the top.
Coming to the end, we start finishing,
then more and more start coming.
With my last push of energy
I cross the finish with a good spot.
