Ode to Strawberry Lemonade

Sun scorches
the sidewalk that screams of
sizzling heat
as sweat smeared air
floats overhead like bulky clouds
and tongues search for comfort
from summer's listless fever.
I turn to you for the ice cold answer
in retaliation to the heatwave's
effervescent presence.
Thirsts evanesce into warm mist.
This bright pink pitcher
is the perfect picture
of summer's urges.
Pinkness drips from dry lips
as we swing to July's Jamboree.
