Being Her Mirror
Sometimes I wish I could be her mirror.
On those days when it doesn't show her something nice,
When it seems to just set up an electron microscope on her flaws.
It stares back at her, giggling at the things she hates about herself.
It's doesn't always behave mischievously though.
Some days it compliments her with a soft, mitigating voice,
Telling her she looks good enough to go without a few strokes of a makeup brush.
If only I was her mirror,
I would show her everything about her that makes my knees weak.
Everything that reeled me in like an enervated fish.
The things about her that makes my day brighter.
As bright as a match struck to flame in a cave that hasn't seen light since the dawn of time.
Everything I love oh so dearly.
Her.
