Hidden Love

A soul overfed with lust,
grasping at minescule gestures
gnawing on meaningless words meant only to placate
so desperate to be cherished
willingly becoming a slave to malice.

A criminal overtired,
blood unruly dripping from hands
scrambling to outdo
brawling to be valued
rupturing every precious opportunity
to be seen in the eyes of affection.

A grail overturned,
its once glorious contents
turned to venom
spite now dripping
from its approving edges.

A frail overabundance,
unrequited infatuations all overlapping
in unraveled webs of sanity.

Passion ruptures the unwanted soul.

My inspiration for this piece was the idea of hiding the word love in the first line of each stanza in a poem that wasn't about the beauty of love, but rather the cruelness of it in some cases.
