I try so hard. Not to be the gum on the sidewalk. Not to be that little pink thing that you step on and don't even notice nor care about. Not to be something chewed up and spit out. Not to be tasteless and tamed. Not to be that one piece out of the packet. Not to be something you are disgusted by, because I know that deep down, your opinion does matter to me, and I want to be noticed.

I learned though that yearning doesn't help. all it does is show you how you have failed, and how your are useless and unwanted, how you will be walked over by giants. Yearning makes it inevitable. I cannot do anything about it. I have no arms to pick myself up with, no feet to stand on. Yet you complain.

But I have to be calld names, be left out of games, thrown to the side, left behind, chewed up, spit out, walked over, and picked at, but what can I do about it? I'm just gum on this sidewalk we call life.

I wrote this piece in a depressing mood, but soon came to a good mood. I hope that someone will read this and choose not to be the gum on the sidewalk and to be someone special.
