State of Devastation
I never knew you would be dead, Aunt Pat.
I never knew it would happen this early.
You were everything and supported every decision I made.
I never knew you would be dead.
Getting that phone call really broke my heart.
Hearing my mom cry and everyone in the hospital room, made me realize that it is real.
To know that the decision had to be made that night.
That only life support is what kept you alive for your last days, and I couldn't hold your hand through it.
I never knew you would be dead.
It kills to know now that I won't be able to talk to you and come to you for advice.
It kills to know that you will never be my shoulder to cry on now.
It kills to know that our family is not fully complete now.
Aunt Pat, I never knew you would be dead.
