I Once Knew A Girl
I once knew a girl
A girl with life in her eyes
And no matter how many times she
turned all the mirrors around to avoid her
own reflection
She still remained the same bright eyed girl
Until the age of 14, when she realized she
could never escape her worst enemy
herself
That was the first time she picked up a blade
sliding it down pure skin
feeling nothing but numb
she didn’t miss the comfort of
being sad because
she wasn’t even human anymore
and the life drained out of her eyes

When I was a little younger than I am now, I felt like I couldn't go on another day. So I wrote and wrote to cope and honestly that's how poetry really saved me.
