Home is where the heart is

From the sweet smell of pancakes on a sunny Saturday morning
To the warm feeling of being cozy during fall
The fire crackles throughout the house with a
Gentle smoke hazing the halls
Memories are splattered like paint on the walls in forms
Of pictures and paintings

Home is where the heart is
Windows cracked open on a fall day which
Brings in a slight chill breeze
The smell of home-made pastry goods
Scuffing and scratching of a gentle beast
Walking back and forth on the wooden floors

Home is where the heart is
Different rooms, for different personalities
Mahogany, teal, plum, white
Everything is quiet to loud in
The split of a short second
Fighting, screaming
Loving, caring

Home is where the heart is
As life goes on, new creeks come about
New cracks appear on painted walls
New memories out shine the old
Behind every object is a hidden story

Home is where the heart is
Whispers through the walls on quiet,
muggy summer nights
silent cries on the unnoticed bad days
everything happens at home mainly because
home is really where the heart is.
