Race Day
Everybody is still.
Not one person says a word.
The few seconds you wait for the gun to fire,
feels like minutes.
Finally,
you hear it
and the silence ends immediately.
It quickly becomes hard to breath,
and your entire body aches.
You can’t quit on yourself though.
More importantly, on your team.
The race seems to last forever,
but soon you cross the finish line and it’s all a blur.
Running can hurt a lot physically.
but it’s more of a mental sport,
and we’re all insane.
