Letters From The Heart, Words From The Soul

Girl of seventeen,
Smart, pretty,
Life's a dream.

On the outside,
You can't tell,
The struggles that put her to hell.

Her mom drinks,
Her dad is dead.
No one is there,
To lend her a hand.

School is tough,
Friends are far.
She's gone, but the story is not over.

She calls out,
A call of despair,
"Save me, save me!"
But nothing happens.
Nothing's there.

It's like she's trapped inside a cave.
Dark, gloomy,
No escape.

So one day,
Home from school,
She gets a jar,
It's half full.

Takes out pills,
One by one,
Until the jar is almost done.

Closed eyes,
Pills in hand,
She swallows them,
Without a fear.
But only then,
She realizes the end is near.

She reflects back to when her dad wasn't dead.
When her mom was still there,
Not sick in the head.

She remembers times she was a happy girl.
Twirling, whirling, in a swirl.
Sunshines and rainbows and butterflies,
Twinkling toes and shining eyes.

However, all this lead to an end.
She was no longer happy,
But depressed 'till no end.

Soon enough,
She fell down,
Hard,
Head against sink,
Her eyes squeezed shut,
Blood no longer flowing.
She was falling,
Didn't know where she was going.

She lied there and thought about,
What it'd be it'd be like,
To leave her body behind,
Go to a different world.
Where she will once again twirl and whirl.

She lied and thought about her mom,
How would she react?
Would she be upset?
Or would she be happy and go drink again?

What about her dad,
The one she loved most,
Would he be the one to watch her fading?
And later, in heaven,
Would she hear "I love you" again?

Finally, the clock ticked.
One, two, three.
Her body went limp,
Her eyes closed naturally,
She no longer is in her body.

She's off, off, off and away,
To a another tomorrow,
And a different today.

The author's comments:

I was inspired whilst reading the book Paperweight. As a kid, I was always intrested in writing, and this poem is meant to be emotional and inspiring because I want everyone reading this to know that you are loved. You are wanted. Your issues or situations do not describe you. Only you can describe you.
