The day my heart grew a whole lot bigger
was when my sister told me she was pregnant
I was one of the few to know at the time
We wanted to surprise my parents,
but that did not go as planned
Unexpected happened,
she had complications
It was no longer a surprise; we had to tell my parents,
my sister called up my parents
That’s when it all was revealed

Though they were almost 2000 miles away
we were given updates very regularly
Soon she was the size of a bean
Then the tip of a finger
Every week she kept on growing,
and so did my sisters belly

Changing

All the way up until October 29th  2014,
the months seemed to pass by as fast as a snap of the fingers
The day was finally here, her due date
Then the day after
Then 2 days after
Then 3 days after
It seemed as if she was never going to come out

Finally she was induced
on the night of the 29th my sister gave birth
Makayla Marie came into this world
I couldn’t have been more excited to meet her
Days after she was born I flew out to Arizona,
and I was able to see my wonderful niece

In about 1 month she will be one year old
This year has flown by
All the amazing milestones she has reached are truly amazing to watch
I cannot wait to see all that this life has to offer her
