Sidekick to Hero
But each was brave. More than once a sidekick
Has thrown himself in front of our hero in order
To receive the bullet or blow meant for that
Perfect face and body
Sometimes the selfless acts that go unnoticed
That happens in the shadows
Those acts can completely change a story
One single moment of strength could lead to a saved life
What some fail to realize is
The little things create change
Take a minute
Add up the hug you gave that sad girl
The smile you flashed your neighbor
The words of advice you gave your friend
The time you shared a penny
Opened a door
Said thank you
Its little things that add up
A sidekick is a hero in their own way
Once you’ve added it up
Those little tasks don’t seem as small
Suddenly you’re more than those small tasks
You once thought defined you
You find yourself feeling more powerful
With each breath you feel invincible
No matter what knocks you down you can get back up
Not only are you stronger
But you’ve made other stronger
Then you realize
You’re no sidekick, you’re a hero.
