Changes and Growing Older
Changes
sitting in the shade,
hiding from the beaming sun
how was this all made?
much damage has been done
from the distance I hear
the sounds of cars whizzing by,
some are far, some are near
yet here I still am, trapped like a fly
the school grounds are silent,
needing students to be...
containing all but excitement,
awaiting school to be released
yet here I remain;
inhaling freshly cut grass,
hearing the birds in disarray,
watching the time slowly pass
how have we done
all this to one place,
while not even caring
our mistakes can never be erased
Growing Older
spring baby I was, born into a family of three
loud, fussy, full of anger and chaos
my mom always said, I was never of ease
loud toddler I was, never settled, never still
breaking things, running wild
always bringing in a bill
baby sister was born, oh what a surprise
she’s not coming with us?
we said our goodbyes
tall kid I was, buck teeth, big eyes
smiling, dancing, prancing around,
not a care in the world, people were nice
my sister was born, healthy and well
no longer the youngest, no longer the smallest,
as if you could tell
good sister I was, honest and proud
tutor at home, guardian at school,
always watching, always her cloud
third sister was born, loud and unique
little girl who liked dinosaurs?
oh what a big critique
freshman I was, tall and shy
had friends for miles, then they all changed
and I still don’t know why
sophomore I am, confident and bright
academics are fun, have friends here to stay
happy to say, I have found the light
of high school and life, and wherever I may

These are two poems I wrote for my English 10 class. I was inspired to write Changes for the sake of the enviornment, and I was inspired to write my second poem, Growing Older, because it symobolizes some of the major events that have taken place in my life.
