Lost Eyes
His small, fragile body lay.
His used to be loving eyes were
glossy and lost in space.
My footsteps made every outside noise silent.
A spark went of inside me
and His favorite song I began to sing.
Something changed within Him and He too began to sing.
The hardness in His eyes I had once seen
disappeared.
They retrieved their light.
Warm tears slowly
trickled down my face.
His lost, frightened, doleful
began to float away.
And for a moment, a simple moment
I caught glimpse of what He used to be.
However, when the song ended
it all went up in smoke.
He reconsigned to oblivion.
His kind smile vanished.
And all that remained was
His lost eyes.
