I threw a snowball across the backyard,
my dog ran after it to bring it back.
he became very confused,
looking each and every way.
He must not understand snow
or how it can disappear.
Dogs can be dumb in that way
but he stayed optimistic
and continued his search,
digging through the foot of snow.

I laugh as he covers his face in
snow, i let it go on for a few
minutes until i call his name.
He darts towards me as if
the snowball never happened.

He didn't even care that i tricked him,
in fact he was happy i called him to me
what a stupid dog, yet so smart
at the same time.
Maybe he knows more than me,
there's no way.

But he is my best friend.
