Softball

it was like any
game before
my dad
was playing 2nd base
there was 2 outs,
they were about
to just take the 3rd
but one more player
went up to bat
Crack!
pop fly right to
my father
he looks in the air,
the ball dives in his direction
but, there was an unknown
hole in the ground,
he
steps in it,
then
he
screams
he
has to be helped off
the field.
he
cannot move
his
right leg
at the hospital
he
has to get
his
knee replaced,
and even now, over
a year later
his
leg is still
swollen and has a rash
