The light grey
and neon green tennis shoes,
were tied tight on his
little
feet.
His baggy khaki pants
were draped over his ankles.
A bright blue
graphic
Spiderman tee
was layered over his
baggy long grey undershirt.

There is a pathway
suspended through the air,
connecting two platforms.
Thick
grey
rope is weaved into
diamonds
held up by wooden posts.
Thin black rope
weaved to make a net
like a chain-link fence,
creates walls around him.

A short, young boy
passes
over the diamond net
Clutching the
chain-link like net walls.
Cautiously moving
one step at a time.
Scared he’d fall.

He finds his footing on the platform,
and calls for me to follow.
When I came to the platform he was on,
he hugged me and thanked me for letting him try on his own.
