The Stag
The arc of my back like the Arc De Triomphe,
The gleam of my earrings like the Sun,
reminded me of our sequin tops we had worn just 3 days before.
The excitement of camp fading bit by bit.
The last day only hours from done.
The memories will stick with me forever.
From the time we all stayed up until 3
and the hairspray wouldn’t brush out,
to the nights it was impossible for me to sit down
and everyone yelled “Ally, Stop!”
When nobody could find Connie
or when we all camped out in my room,
sharing stories that should never be repeated.
EVER!
The staff always had a great time, making sure we had fun.
Games like dance downs and music charades.
The time Mikayla asked if we had any special talents
and Penny made us all want to avert our eyes.
This year was better than last.
Not as much stress but a little more pressure.
Practicing until you can’t stand: not required.
Living up to expectations: definitely.
Camp: Although it’s only 4 days long,
it is the highlight of the summer
and I will cherish it
Always.
