Loud wind piercing our ears.
Flying on the ocean with the sun beaming above,
in a small fishing boat.
We stopped instantly in our tracks.
The captain said to drop the lines.
The fish deep below didn’t know we were there.
My brothers and I , full of excitement
didn’t know what we were in for.

I cast out the line
waiting and waiting for something to bite.
It took a while to catch anything,
my patience was running low.
Some small filler fish were caught before casting again.
and then,
I could feel the fish attack the bait,
it was a big one.
The rod squealed as the line took off.
I set the hook then reeled in as fast as I could
hoping it wouldn’t slip off the line.
A silhouette emerged from the deep waters.
I gave it a good tug and lifted the creature out from the water.
“Octopus!” I screamed
hoping everyone would hear me.
I was stunned, so exhilarated to finally catch something good!
The captain helped me pull the eight legged beast into the boat.
It crawled around the deck using its tentacles to tug itself around.  Slunick 1

Soon after the captain tossed it back.
As it soared through the air
the dark black ink sprayed out of it
just missing the boat.
What a catch.
