Spark
You handed me the sparkler
You were giving me back our spark
We no longer look at each other in the eye
Instead we just say hi and goodbye
Two friends turned lovers turned strangers
You handed over the white flag
The moment that I have been dreading since that day
You showed me that we are no longer connected
That your eyes do not light up for mine any longer
The once bright spark has grown dull
I know it will never disappear completely
But it has lost all of it’s sparkle
It lost all of it’s strength
You handed me the dull representation of our disintegrated love
Two once connected souls that lost their home
Our love is the sparkler
We were bright and warm when we first began
Quickly we ignited our love
Slowly it began to burn until the last bit
We burned ourselves to something unrecognizable
I wanted to look into your eyes and see what they looked like
Were they pale green because you were somber?
Were they hazel because you were nervous?
I wanted to see those mirrors that always reflected mine
Two pairs that no longer had a light to guide their way
The fireworks and sparkler hid my racing heartbeat
Unsure if you would acknowledge me when you walked over
I held my breath for what seemed like a century
There were no longer butterflies or knifes
Our spark was put out by all our griefs
I wanted to hold on to it forever
Whilst wanting to throw it far away from me
I held my smile when I saw you being carefree
Remembering all those times that made me fall in love with you
Two teenagers who realized they lost their first love
I will always look for the brightest spark in the crowd
Despite our dim light, you will always shine the brightest to me
