Melancholia
To kill a lover in her dilapidated arms
Constructing the harp’s soulful tune to the tips of his ears
She inquires with a soft rhythmic melody
For his underworld to give way
With a hasty shush to her lips
The boy quiets the girl
Waiting for her to see the drunk midnight sky
Aligned with his soul and hers
But her slender fingers
Mercilessly tore the Daily Times up into pieces
After reading about a tumultuous black storm
That forecasted the end
Her lover ripped his lips into shreds
With a thousand cigarettes
Weeping for the pureness of dawn
And the virtue of the midnight sky
The girl skewered her own pure lips
With a thousand more cigarettes
Knowing the earth was not infinite and boundless
Delirium permeated through her freckled skin
Sinking its teeth into her hollow veins
The girl hummed the tune of her incorrigible soul
Living in her hedonistic ideal of life
Disposing of her chastity
And dancing with wild ecstasy
The earth refused to thrive
Knowing melancholia was near
And the girl wept with her stomach filled with amber
Realizing melancholia had haunted and raped her mind of color
A beautiful rancorous cry transformed into acceptance
One thousand cigarettes later
And the girl shut her eyes
With a dangerous tiny smile
Threatening to form
Realizing melancholia would defeat her soon

The feeling of melancholia is so potent and real. Sometimes, it just sneaks up on you, and before long it's a part of you.
