under the streetlight
the brightness illuminates her face
accentuating her smile,
prompting my thoughts
( i never told her this before, but
i feel comfortable in her presence
worries leave my body, anxiety stops existing
it feels sweet and serendipitous to be with her-
to see her face, to hear her voice )
the street is dark, abandoned and lonely-
but here we have found a warm sea of love and unity
we stand closer together, backs against the pole,
waiting passively for the bus
we stand together, hoping that it will never come
