One Year

One year,
One year since I have felt you on my arms,
Your fingers sliding back and forth.
One year since I last felt your breath against my neck,
Warm and uneven,
Just like mine.
It’s been one year,
One whole year,
Yet I still feel as broken,
As I did the day after.
One year since you hurt me,
One year has gone by,
I still haven’t screamed.
It’s nice out today,
And I’m fighting to remember,
If this day last year,
Was as beautiful.
It’s weird,
How the sun will still shine,
The wind will still blow,
And the leaves will still fall,
On such a horrible day,
As today.
Outer beauty has nothing to do,
With the inner humility you have given me.
Every month,
I count down the days,
Until I reach this fateful one,
But it is only today,
That it’s been a whole year,
The Earth has traveled around the sun,
What a success,
What a failure,
What a sweet torture,
To remind me of you,
Every,
Single,
Day.
