Happiness

Happiness is such an important part of our culture that we put it in the Declaration of Independence. Every man has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But happiness is an abstract term; it can mean something different to everyone.
My happiness is her amazing smile that lights up my world more than the sun itself. It’s her laugh that makes me want to laugh with her. It’s her gorgeous face that makes me smile every time I see it. It’s her long beautiful blonde hair that she always complains about, even though it always looks perfect. Happiness is the way we look at each other that always gave me butterflies. Happiness is the rush that I get every time we held hands.
Happiness is the way she would cuddle up next to me in the middle of night because she got cold. It’s the way she would fall asleep on me and leave a little puddle of drool. It’s the little yawn she would do when she got tired. It’s the half-asleep smile she would give me when I would kiss her on the forehead as she was falling asleep. It’s falling asleep talking to her. It’s how she was the first thing I thought of in the morning and the last thing I thought of at night.
Happiness was her getting upset because I didn’t fold my clothes fast enough and they would wrinkle. It was all the fights we would have and neither of us wanted to admit we were wrong because we’re both so stubborn. It’s the way she would look at me if I was being disrespectful or insensitive.
Happiness is the way she would listen to me ramble on for hours about nothing and everything. Happiness is when she would kiss me to lovingly tell me to shut up.
Happiness is the way she got me to like cats when I used to hate them. It’s her making me like country music. It was the way she would tell me how our future was going to look.
Happiness is her telling me she loved me more than anything else. Happiness is her telling me she wanted to marry me one day. Happiness is her telling me she wanted to be with me the rest of my life.
Happiness is only temporary.
